Marketing as an Indie writer is a daunting task if you don’t have a guide. It is, however, not something that can be ignored, at all. Without doing your own marketing you will not succeed in this industry. The days of putting a book or two on Kindle and being successful are long gone, if they existed at all.
On Dauntless, I aim to test out different marketing strategies to report their effectiveness to you. However, there is one tried and tested strategy that was true in the 1960’s and will continue to be true in 2060. Direct, mail based marketing to a qualified list will always deliver results. A qualified list is a group that will be interested in what you’re selling. It’s like selling a great historical romance novel to my mother. I know that she reads those things like she’s training for some readathlon Olympiad, so the best place to start marketing books like that is to women like her and her friends. Now if I had a list of them to send e-mails to, wow, won’t that be something.
